City of Evil is Avenged Sevenfold's third studio album. It was released on June 6, 2005 with Warner Bros. Records. As opposed to the band's first two albums, this was their first album with no growling or screaming in it from M. Shadows, and the guitar tracks were noticably more rhythmic. It sold over 30,000 copies in one week. This album brought great fame and recognition for the band and it hit number two on Billboard mainstream rock charts. This was Avenged Sevenfold's heavily needed break through. In August of 2009, the album became platinum.
